How To Plan Your Training

The following information will enable you to customise training for you and your staff according to the level of skill and area of expertise, and make best use of your time at Expo.

Course Levels

Core Courses
Courses marked as Core Courses encompass the essential knowledge necessary in order to take CEDIA Certification. The courses relevant to each certification level are described in the individual certification curriculum. These courses make up the knowledge base that CEDIA considers essential for an individual working within the residential custom integration market.

100 Level Courses
Courses marked as 100 level introduce concepts and discussions where there is no prior knowledge required about the subject being taught. These courses are not necessarily ‘easy’ but discuss a subject from first principles.

200 Level Courses
Courses marked as 200 level discuss subjects to a more advanced level. They do not teach basic principles and are designed to build upon existing knowledge.

300 Level Courses
Courses marked as 300 level introduce advanced design concepts. They require that participants already have a good level of knowledge underpinning the subject being taught. These courses are not suitable as introductions to a subject area and are mostly targeted towards design.

Certification
Having CEDIA Certified members of staff is mandatory requirement for CEDIA ESP membership as from the January 2009 membership year. At Expo this year, we are offering Installer Levels 1 review & exam, Advanced Installer exam, and Designer Level 1 Certification exam. The reviews are designed to prepare experienced candidates for the exam and do not constitute a course on the entire curriculum. If you are unsure about your level of experience for a Certification review, please contact stephen.miller@cedia.com.au The curriculum also contains recommended courses to be taken at this years Expo that are relevant to the exam being taken.

CEU Points
All CEDIA courses at this year’s Expo have a CEU allocation attached to them. This is to help certified individuals meet the requirement of gaining 30 CEU points in the 3 year period following gaining their certified status. Please note that CEU points are only valid once certification has been gained - Points do not count prior to taking the certification exam. CEU points may also be gained from certain manufacturers product training courses. Please contact the individual manufacturer or distributor for details on this scheme.
Also available at CEDIA Expo will be dedicated Manufacturer training. These courses will often cover technical issues in more depth and some include hands-on training (a number of these training courses are currently undergoing CEU approval and will be allocated relevant CEU points).
