From Robert Sanders - TotalQ
It is with much regret and a very heavy heart that I write to inform you of the passing of Jason Burns, a colleague, former partner of TotalQ, most recently a partner of Douglas Hi Fi and most importantly my good friend.
It is with much regret and a very heavy heart that I write to inform you of the passing of Jason Burns, a colleague, former partner of TotalQ, most recently a partner of Douglas Hi Fi and most importantly my good friend.
Jason was taking a last trip on his motorcycle yesterday having made a decision earlier in the weekend to sell his bike. Riding with a group of twenty riders to Waroona south of Perth, along the trip Jason lost contact with the group. The circumstances of the accident are not clear but tragically the results of it are. Jason was always very responsible so we can be certain he was on this occasion.
Jason was a partner in TotalQ from its inception in April 1999 to June 2005 who only recently crossed the floor from wholesale to retail by purchasing the Douglas Hi Fi store in Perth with partners Kent Harvey and Marco Macri. Jason and I first met many years before whilst working for Muro Pty Ltd, the distributors for Alpine and Scan Audio at the time. Jason was the "wonder boy" rep for Alpine and had all manner of things Alpine that included not only the car stereo itself but the license plate and ring on the finger to match. For close to eight years Jason worked as the rep for Alpine in W.A and his passing will reverberate across that side of our industry as it will ours.
Like all of us, his passion for car audio diminished as his liking for most other things electrical and of the audio and computing persuasion took hold. Slowly pieces of car audio migrated from the car to the living room, sometimes appearing at the odd party would be Jason's concoctions of hand built P.A and the mixed discs of "J.B Aural Edit" blaring from it. It was not uncommon for Jason to have beer in hand, smile on face, feet tapping and jumping, letting out the familiar cry of, "I love this tune!"
In January 2002 Jason married Gwen, in a scene not unfamiliar to many of us, The Venetian Canals in Las Vegas during CES. Jason and Gwen were besotted with each other upon their first meeting and with little wonder as each shared the very same interests in life that they explored as often as they could. To Gwen, Jason's family and Jason's other close friends, particularly Chris, Froggie and Michael, I wish you my sincerest condolences.
Jason, we worked, played sport, fought and cried together, mostly though, we always laughed together. You had an unwavering sincerity for your friends and colleagues welfare and that of your family. For that and so much more I will miss you forever terribly.
