Great results for CEDIA Expo 2006 The CEDIA team is delighted to report that Expo 2006 attracted a record-breaking number of visitors, nearly double that of previous years. In total, this years Expo attracted 2,580 trade visitors (excl. exhibitors) compared to 1,320 (excl. exhibitors) trade visitors in 2005. Exhibitor numbers also increased significantly from 753 exhibitors in 2005 to 988 exhibitors in 2006, in line with the additional floor space that also doubled this year. The significant growth reflected in these figures is testament to the expansion of both CEDIA and the industry we represent. The variety of exhibitors and visitors at this year's Expo is proof of the convergence happening between custom electronics, custom installation and information technology; and that our industry is truly coming of age. A big focus of every CEDIA Expo is knowledge transfer and skills acquisition through CEDIA certified education courses. This education is extremely important as it sets standards of practice for the industry as a whole. New CEDIA Core Courses and education seminars were successfully introduced this year with a total of 290 installers attending the courses. CEDIA's education courses are crucial because they help guarantee the quality of the work we deliver to our customers. We'll be ramping up our CEDIA certification courses offer thanks to the new education centre launching soon in Botany, and the recently launched online education. CEDIA Olympics Wed like to congratulate the winners of the 2006 CEDIA Olympics whose skills outside the workplace proved mighty impressive! Taking out the Fishing & Obstacle challenge in just 5.51 minutes and the Attic Crawl in two minutes, David Smyth and Graeme Knight proved a dynamic duo to take out not one, but two titles. Louie Cambridge and Lonney Berrier won the Van Load event, rising to the challenge in just 2.39 minutes. The Amp Toss was won by Shannon Mallyon who went the distance with a record breaking 10.419 metre toss. All in all, a wonderful performance by everyone involved. We look forward to seeing how these guys fare up at the CEDIA Olympics 2007.
