CEDIA, the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association, hosted an Image Science Foundation (ISF) training course at its Sydney headquarters earlier this month. The course helps broadcast executives, specialty AV dealers and distributors as well as video systems engineers better calibrate large Flat Panel TVs and projectors to extract the optimum image reproduction.

The annual course was run by ISF Certified Instructor Aaron Rigg over two full days and utilised highly specialised equipment.

The training is designed to give attendees a greater appreciation and understanding of what is necessary to achieve great images and how to best use the purpose-built calibration equipment. Professionals from Australia and New Zealand attended the event, sponsored by Audio Products Group and Panasonic.

CEDIA Executive Director Stephen Miller said: “CEDIA has created a unique opportunity for our members and the industry to bring the benefits of ISF training to Australian consumers. ISF certification is respected worldwide and we believe consumers who have purchased high quality flat panel TVs and projectors should be able to experience the picture quality as the manufacturers intended”.

Trainer Aaron Rigg from Avical added: “The difference good calibration makes to a flat panel TV or projector can be staggering. While some TVs need only minor tweaking to suit their surroundings, others require major adjustments. The owners of this expensive entertainment equipment can instantly see and appreciate the difference.”

Rigg says each person who attended the course would come away with a new perspective on electronic imaging.

“They can now play a more active role as a service provider. Our network of well-equipped calibration specialists is implementing the standard for enthusiastic end-users across the country, at the same time elevating genseral public understanding of the system intentions.”
