Pioneer to continue its long standing involvement in Australian market.
Following its recent decision to withdraw from the global plasma TV market, Pioneer Electronics reinforces its commitment to the Australian market and announces plans to introduce new technology into the local market.
With the company’s history in Australia spanning over 45 years, Pioneer’s Australian subsidiary will not only continue its long standing involvement in the local consumer electronics market, but look to introduce new technologies into its home audio, car audio, navigation, optical disc and Pro DJ business divisions.
“Whilst it’s unfortunate Pioneer will no longer be able to offer its highly appreciated plasma TVs once the current 9th generation range sells out, our research and development group are now focused on introducing new technology into other key areas of the business,” says Toshio Izumi, managing director of Pioneer Electronics Australia
Despite officially withdrawing from flat panel TV production last week, Pioneer’s Research and Development group is already tackling the development of various new technologies.
“Under the new direction set by Japan, there is a clear intention to hasten the development of promising new technologies so that they can be commercialised as quickly as possible.
The losses incurred by our flat panel TV business over the past five years have had a significant effect on the corporation’s cash flow, which in turn has limited Pioneer’s ability to invest in other areas of the business. This will no longer be the case moving forward,” added Izumi.
Audio is one division of Pioneer sure to benefit with the company looking to introduce new audio solutions for the home.
“The audio business was Pioneer’s starting point and has been the company’s forte. However, product development in audio has suffered at the hands of our flat panel TV business.
Balancing consumer needs and profitability, Pioneer will now challenge itself to look outside its conventional home audio offering (home theatre systems, audio components, etc) and explore a broader range, consisting of new solutions for reproducing premium quality audio in the home”, commented Izumi.
Pioneer Australia looks forward to sharing the announcement of new technology with consumers, retail partners and the media in the future.
