Categories

There are 12 categories in the CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles® Awards 2010:

1.     Best Integrated Home Installation over $300,000 
2.     Best Integrated Home Installation $150,000-$300,000 
3.     Best Integrated Home Installation under $150,000

Definition: An integrated home must feature at least two residential electronic systems professional installed systems (i.e. lighting control and security) that are integrated together to provide enhanced convenience, safety, or reliability for the client. This category does not include demonstration homes or show rooms.


4.     Best Media Room

Definition: For the purposes of submitting and judging this category, a media room will be defined as a multi-purpose area of the home with a big screen (106cm or larger), and including systems such as entertainment, telecommunications and data. Examples would include a recreation room, family room etc.


5.     Best Commercial Project

Definition: The integration of technology in a commercial environment poses its own unique challenges. Accordingly, this category has been created to recognise members who are providing an installation that satisfied needs or created unusual features that were outside the scope of a residential installation. Examples would include restaurants, pubs & clubs, retail, corporate, hospitality/entertainment, higher education, show rooms etc.


6.     Best Dressed System – Residential

Definition: For the purpose of submitting and judging this category you MUST provide clear images of the infrastructure (ie. back of rack). This is an award for the field technician as it represents the work behind the rack. A properly cabled installation is more reliable and should be easier to service. This category is open to the work done on structured wiring panels, distribution boards, equipment racks, etc.


7.     Best Home Theatre over $100,000 
8.     Best Home Theatre $50,000-$100,000 
9.     Best Home Theatre under $50,000

Definition: For the purposes of submitting and judging these categories, a home theatre will be defined as a DEDICATED room whose ONLY purpose is to watch movies and other entertainment programming. Multi-purpose areas like the recreation room and family room are to be submitted in the ‘Best Media Room’ category.


10.   Best Special Project – Domestic

Definition: This category was created to recognise members who are providing more unusual smart-home solutions, such as social housing projects, environmentally-friendly homes or the more surreal automation and integration projects.


11.   Best Project Design and Documentation

Definition: For this category you need to submit a proposal/design in its entirety. For example documentation including: line drawings, CAD drawings, marked plans etc. The only exclusions should be costs and pricing. Submissions in this category must also abide by all the rules; proposal/design must have been completed within the 2009/10 timeframe. Please post a HARD COPY of the proposal/design to CEDIA. 


12.   Best Marine Project

Definition: This category recognises members who are delivering automation & integration solutions to either domestic or commercial marine vessels.
