智能电子系统设计与定制安装是一个飞速发展的前沿领域。最近几年逐渐在电子消费领域之外，为大众所认识并开始享有一定的国际知名度。对于消费者来说，对于设计与定制安装商所应具有的特殊知识和技能是鲜有了解的。承建商和设计师对此已经有所认识，但是他们对于这个设计与定制安装行业所涉及到的宽度还是认识不够。他们以及他们的客户仅局限于特装方面。

CEDIA协会的目标是建立行业认知度和可信度，为行业、政府部门以及市场发言。

Custom design and installation is the cutting edge of a rapidly growing field, and only recently is becoming more widely known outside the consumer-electronics industry. Among consumers, there is little awareness or appreciation for the specialised knowledge and skills of the custom designer/installer. Builders and home designers are better informed, but most are not aware of the breadth of custom-installation services, or of all they and their clients stand to gain by using custom installers.
CEDIA’s purpose is to build recognition and acceptance for this specialised field, and to speak up for its interests in addressing the industry, government, and the marketplace.
